Microsoft 365 setup and support
Email on your own domain, Word and Excel on every device, Teams for internal chat, and files that are not scattered across five laptops. Set up once, correctly, and looked after from there.
What it is
Microsoft 365 setup & support, in plain terms
Microsoft 365 is the subscription that covers business email, the Office applications, Teams, and cloud file storage through OneDrive and SharePoint. Almost every Australian business runs on either this or Google Workspace.
Setting it up properly is more than creating mailboxes. It means pointing your domain at it so mail arrives, configuring the DNS records that stop other people sending email pretending to be you, moving your existing mail and contacts across without losing anything, turning on multi-factor authentication, and getting files off individual desktops into somewhere backed up and shared.
It also means being on the right licence. Microsoft sells several plans that look similar and differ a lot in price, and businesses routinely pay for features they never use.
Why it matters
Why your business needs this
Email is the most critical system most businesses run and the one most likely to be set up on a Friday afternoon by whoever was available. The consequences show up months later.
A business address is a credibility test
An address ending in gmail.com or bigpond.com signals a hobby to a lot of buyers. Email on your own domain costs a few dollars a month and removes the doubt.
Email impersonation is the common attack
Fake invoices sent from addresses that look like yours are one of the most frequent frauds hitting Australian businesses. The DNS records that block it take an afternoon and are missing from most small business domains.
Files on one laptop are one spill from gone
Work saved to a desktop is not backed up, not shared, and disappears with the machine. Cloud storage makes that a non-event.
Deleted mail is not backed up by default
Microsoft keeps the service running, not your data. Recovering a mailbox someone emptied months ago needs a separate backup, which most businesses discover they do not have when they need it.
Why through us
One team instead of four suppliers
Microsoft 365 lives or dies on DNS, the records that tell the internet where to send your email. Those records sit with whoever holds your domain. When your domain is with one company, your email with another, and your website with a third, a routine change to any one of them can stop your mail arriving, and each supplier will tell you it is not their end.
We hold the domain, run the DNS and set up the mailboxes. The records that make your email arrive and stop others impersonating you are configured by the same people who point your domain at your website, so the two do not collide. When we migrate you across, we plan the cutover so nothing bounces during it.
The same joins up afterwards. Voicemail from your business phone number lands in these mailboxes. Your website forms send through them. New staff get a laptop, an account and a phone extension in one request, from one team, on their first morning.
What you get
What is included
Licensing advice before you buy
We work out which plan actually matches how you work, which usually costs less than what was suggested to you elsewhere.
Migration without a gap
Mail, contacts and calendars moved from your current provider, timed so nothing bounces and nothing is lost.
Email authentication configured
SPF, DKIM and DMARC set up properly, so your mail reaches inboxes rather than junk folders and others cannot send as you.
Security turned on
Multi-factor authentication across the business, sensible admin access, and settings that block the common attacks.
Teams, SharePoint and OneDrive
Shared folders structured so people can find things, synced to desktops, and set up so leavers do not take files with them.
Backup for your 365 data
Separate backup of mail and files, because the subscription itself is not one.
How it runs
From first call to done
You will always know what stage the work is at and what happens next.
Review what you run now
Where your mail lives, who has what, what is on the domain, and what needs to survive the move.
Plan the cutover
A dated plan with the DNS change scheduled and everyone told what to expect on the day.
Migrate
Data copied across first, then the switch. Old mail keeps flowing until the new setup is confirmed working.
Secure and tidy
Multi-factor authentication on, old accounts removed, mail authentication records verified, backups running.
Support your staff
A short walkthrough for the team, and somewhere to ring when Outlook does something unexpected.
Common questions
Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace?
If your team lives in Excel, or you have industry software that expects Outlook, Microsoft usually wins. If you want the simplest possible setup and mostly work in a browser, Google often does. We will give you a straight answer for your situation rather than a preference.
Will we lose email during the move?
No. Data is copied before the switch and the old service keeps receiving until the new one is confirmed. Done properly, staff notice very little.
Do we still need backup if it is in the cloud?
Yes. Microsoft guarantees the service is available, not that your data is recoverable after someone deletes it. Separate backup is the fix and it is inexpensive.
Can you support us after setup?
That is the usual arrangement. Setup is a few weeks. Password resets, new starters, permissions and the occasional strange Outlook problem run for years.
Can we move from Google Workspace to Microsoft 365?
Yes, and the other way around. We handle both and have moved businesses in each direction.
